Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)
Client: NHS Havering & London Borough of Havering
Duration:
12 weeks
Project Overview
Havering PCT, the London Borough of Havering and their partners needed to carry out an assessment of the health & wellbeing needs of their residents in order to drive improvement and prioritisation.
CPC carried out their first Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) for Havering across a full range of public sector providers and was asked to lead the analysis through the process to provide a document tackling the key issues of the locality.
A key requirement was to go beyond the standard analyses or directory of all the information that staff have seen before and this work built upon developments by CPC of the JSNA methodology.
CPC’s Role
CPC were tasked with the following:
- Undertake a JSNA for the borough which was compliant with the national guidance and met the requirements of the World Class Commissioning assessment.
- Develop intelligence and an understanding on issues faced by key vulnerable groups within the borough.
CPC provided additional value to this work by including a review of the intelligence gathered and used across the partners in order to build internal capacity to undertake such exercises in-house in the future.
Client Benefits
Benefits for the Borough of Havering included:
- Development of effective longer term commissioning plans.
- Improved outcomes for the people of Havering
- More targeted use of resources
- Evidence base for decision making with confidence
- More effective use of resources through intelligence-led preventative measures that result in downstream savings for reinvestment
- A mandate to “challenge” in partnership decision making.
