for Children & Young People’s Services

Project Overview
Wakefield MDC and partners required a Strategic Needs Assessment of Children & Young People’s Services in their area that would facilitate and secure the delivery of improved outcomes and cost-effective services for the children and young people of Wakefield.

CPC’s Role
CPC were tasked with the following:

  • Developing a Strategic Needs Assessment for the children and young people of Wakefield;
  • Incorporation of a range of local data sources alongside nationally available intelligence;
  • Interim and periodic releases of the findings and draft report to support the work of the local authority and NHS Wakefield District;
  • Options for the hosting of future JSNAs on a web-based system;
  • Knowledge transfer from CPC to Wakefield MDC on appropriate data sources and method statements for analysis; and
  • Service mapping, taking account of current performance and outcomes of services and gap analysis.

Client Benefits
The outputs will provide commissioners and service providers with the intelligence to efficiently plan, deliver and improve services in the locality by providing them with intelligence on current and future health and wellbeing needs of children and young people. This includes:

  1. A detailed report outlining the health and wellbeing intelligence for Wakefield, together with a detailed analysis of the issues faced in the borough and a gap analysis against the agreed outcomes framework;
  2. A detailed interim report with draft analysis and gap analysis;
  3. Periodic releases of intelligence to inform day to day planning and commissioning activity;
  4. Options and proposal for a web-based system for the publication of the JSNA information;
  5. A short report detailing how routine intelligence collection could be further enhanced by Wakefield MDC and its partners; and
  6. Provision of data and methodologies to ensure that this work continues to be used within the service.
