Aquiva (Thames Quay) Floating Hotel
Client: Aquiva (Thames Quay) Limited
Value: £50 million
Duration: 2007 – ongoing; planned launch 2012
Project Overview
The world's largest purpose built luxury floating hotel has overcome its final obstacle for launch in time for the 2012 Olympics at Canary Wharf. Thames Quay represents the first in a series, or fleet, of similar Superyachts to be sited at centres of tourism and commerce around the globe. Other sites presently under development include Singapore and Dubai.
The concept of a Superyacht hotel being sited in the heart of London ’s Docklands has been pursued by a team who were ultimately adopted by Aquiva and formed a project specific entity, Aquiva (Thames Quay) Ltd since around the turn of the century.
The Superyacht will provide 6* luxury accommodation with limited opportunity to purchase (up to 20% of available accommodation) to satisfy certain lifestyle needs of the very wealthy.
Present designs assume the accommodation will comprise:
• 154 Cabins; 26 Suites
• Bars, Restaurants (Michelin 3*) and Brasserie
• Health Spa
• Conference and business use for private and corporate hire
CPC’s Role
Dubai based developer Aquiva (Thames Quay) Ltd appointed CPC in June 2007 to secure both Planning Approval and an Agreement for Lease.
Planning Permission and an Agreement for Lease were finally secured in the autumn of 2008 following complex legal negotiations led by CPC Ltd and supported by Aquiva’s legal team and planning consultant .
CPC hopes to continue with the Project Management of the design, procurement, construction, launch and siting of the Superyacht in time for the 2012 Olympics.
We will:
• coordinate the strategic objectives for use in support of statutory and funding approval
• coordinate and manage the detailed design from concept including naval architecture for the structural elements
• advise and support in the procurement process
• operate as lead consultants
• monitor budget and report ongoing costs including advising on variations
Client Benefits

CPC's extensive track record in leading high profile London developments in the public and private sectors by working with clients on feasibility studies and option appraisals, land assembly, development agreements, design development, planning and statutory approvals and stakeholder management,
Aquiva can look forward to satisfactory delivery into service of the first vessel of their fleet through CPC’s exacting albeit tailored Project Management approach.
