North Greenwich Transport Interchange
Client: London Transport
Duration: 1996 - 1999
Value: 32m
Project Overview
North Greenwich Transport Interchange comprises an award winning interchange building and bus station at North Greenwich
on the Jubilee Line Extension, along with a 1000 space car park and access roads. Designs and constructed works had to be modified to accommodate the Millennium Exhibition at the Dome, which was subsequently announced.
CPC’s Role
CPC managed production of a scheme to address the requirements of London Transport, London Underground, London Buses and British Gas as Landowner and developer. CPC managed the revision of associated legal agreements, design and construction of the works, and completion
of all changes required for the Millennium Exhibition. CPC also provided a support team
to undertake planning, document control and commercial management including agreeing budgets and securing payments related to
four separate funding providers. At the Clients request, CPC supplied a separate team to manage a further 20 workstreams associated with Millennium Exhibition interfaces. This included ticketing; risk management; contingency planning; coordination of stakeholders from throughout the transport sector and within Government; and development and installation of an interactive exhibition held within the interchange, which focussed on transport in the future
Client Benefits
CPC successfully delivered all workstreams on time and within budget despite dynamic programme requirements. The Transport Interchange was completed in time for the Jubilee Extension opening and modifications were undertaken to meet the Dome Construction programme. The contingency plans proved successful when transport disruption occurred, avoiding adverse publicity to LT. CPC’s active engagement with the New Engineering Contract assisted LUL in their subsequent development of Procedures for managing it.
