Platform for Art

Platform For Art

Client: London Underground limited
Duration: 2000 - Current

Project Overview
Platform for Art is an initiative started in 2000, originally at Gloucester Road Underground Station. The aim is to create a welcoming, interesting and stimulating environment for London Underground customers.

CPC’s Role
CPC have provided Technical Project Management skills for this programme since its inception. The programme has now developed into an ongoing arts plan utilising areas of redundant and disused space throughout the network, therefore creating greater station ambience. Gloucester Road continues with ongoing exhibitions in visual art in a wide variety of compliant mediums. Platform for Art extends throughout the Underground network, with Exhibitions and Events at Gloucester Road, Piccadilly Circus, Barbican, Canary Wharf, Stratford, Northwick Park, and Harrow stations on an ongoing basis. On a temporary basis Seven Sisters, Westminster, Leicester Square, Brixton, and Bethnal Green stations, and a whole Piccadilly line train have been used.

Client Benefits
CPC's in-depth knowledge and experience of handling issues, has proved invaluable in providing services to Platform for Art. CPC developed close partnerships between our Project Managers, the displaying artists, local communities, English Heritage, Transport for London, Network Rail and many departments within LUL. .
