Project Overview:
Redevelopment of a site at West Ham to relocate existing bus garages from the Olympic Games site. The new site provides 8,462 sq m of bus depot and associated bus operations space with 3,533 sq m of office space and the installation of a stand alone wind turbine. Phase 1 provides a temporary facility while the permanent construction is completed in Phase 2.
Over 300 buses will be accommodated with full workshop, fuel & wash facilities, and office accommodation, to high standards of sustainability including wind turbine, biomass boiler, water recycling, timber structure and green roofs.
The garage is the first for many years to be of architectural significance, designed with full regard to future development plans for the area.
CPC's Role :
CPC's project management team act as client's representative, project manager, cost manager & CDM co-coordinator for the scheme. Co-ordination of the project brief included:
• Appointment of consultants
• Procurement of contractors
• Contract administration
• Cost management
• Programming and construction planning
• Liaison with public authorities
• Stakeholder management
CPC Ltd has been supporting TfL/ LBSL on the relocation of the Waterden Road Bus Garages since July 2006. CPC has successfully delivered the first phase of the project comprising a temporary Bus Garage, a workshop, office accommodation, bus wash, fuelling facilities and bus parking area. This was successfully handed over to the the East London Bus Group in February 2008.
Phases 2 and 3 cover the construction of the new permanent garage and ancillary buildings built in accordance with the agreed design, programme, cost and quality constraints.
This element of the project includes the following:
• Monitor progress against the agreed Contract Programme
• Monitor cost, quality and compliance with specified requirements
• Implement Change Management procedures under the NEC conditions
• Manage risk and seek mitigation with the project team
• Chair regular Progress and Information Meetings
• Ensure information requests are met
• Ensure that all parties carry out their duties under CDM 2007
• Deliver a successful project
