Health Commissioning & Needs Assessment
Health reforms continue to move at a tremendous pace, but there is now an increased focus for Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) on commissioning, with the goal of securing the optimal health outcomes and the best possible services, all at the best value to the public purse.
Improving the health of local populations and reducing health inequalities are both key elements of realising the Government’s vision of a patient-led NHS. The government sees that this is dependent on a strong commissioning function within PCTs.
CPC is able to support PCTs to:
• Deliver services that are person-centred and designed around the needs of the individual
• Promote health and well-being and shift towards maintaining an individual’s independence
• Work more collaboratively across the whole of the public and third sector to commission services that are outcome-focused and help to reduce inequalities
CPC, as your partner, can help you to do this by:
• Providing strong local intelligence on people’s health and wellbeing needs, through such tools as the joint strategic needs assessment (JSNA) or neighbourhood intelligence assessments (for example, at a township or practice based commissioning cluster footprint)
• Supporting you to turn commissioning intelligence into investment intentions and strategies – moving from ‘knowing’ to ‘doing’
• Supporting you to model the impact of investment intentions thorough the JSNA+
